Wow..

Confirms why I like avoid slots, even Zion Narrows, in July and August. Scary stuff.

WOW, this is amazing and so scary too. Shows the awesome power of nature.
My wife and I had visited and photographed Lower Antelope one week just prior to the tour group that got trapped in that slot during a flash flood many years back now. How truly lucky we were on our very first visit to that area.

I was in Lower Antelope in August 1997 just 9 days before the folks got washed away. It rained hard the day I was there and I saw water blasting through the canyon but nothing like this. This video is amazing and scary. Definitely shows it isn't wise to be in a slot during monsoon season.

That's a lot of muddy water. Wonder about how the walls in upper and lower Antelope are now.

A call to Kens Tours said the exit ladder in lower antelope was taken out by the flood. The other ladders are good. They are removing water in the lower half. he said they should be running smoothly in about 3 weeks. Right now, tours are using only the upper half of lower antelope. I did not ask about upper antelope canyon.

I was thinking how cool it would be to manage the slot for your own personal use right now. Like powerwash the walls, and wait for the ground to dry so you could shoot it un-touched. No footprints - only the swirls of sand or cracked design.

Bob, I was told that the walls were pretty clean, but the sand in the bottom was washed away. They are dropping sand from above. Having mudcracks in the bottom would make a nice foreground though.
