Wednesday afternoon my wife and I were traveling down the east side of Trailridge road Near timberline. A rain squall had just passed and in the valley below this great rainbow developed. It lasted for about 2 minutes and then faded away. I have never seen anything like that in all my travels in the Colorado mountains. A real wow moment!

Very cool. I have never seen a rainbow so low to the ground except with the help of a waterfall. Good catch. You did a great job with the comp with such short notice.
Not only did you capture a rare looking rainbow, but you got a wonderful landscape to go with it!
I seriously don't know how this could have looked better. I really like the lit foreground, the shadowed mountains and the stormy skies. Congratulations!
I'm back for a second look. Finally gives all of us closure trying to understand that phrase we all knew too well growing up as kids; "somewhere over the rainbow."

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments. It was truly a magic moment for Kathleen and me.
Thanks to Kane for the 'over the rainbow' comment, it made me smile ;O)>.
Also to Bob and John for the supportive comments. This was a quick grab shot, no time for tripod or other supports.
I did crop some from the foreground to remove distracting elements and tighten the comp.
