Trouble with Firefox login to NPN?

Anyone else having trouble logging into NPN using Firefox? I have no problem logging in with Internet Explorer, but the site does not recognize my login using Firefox 22. I put in the info, hit the login button and the login screen disappears, but I am not logged in.

I am not having any other issues with Firefox.

Harley ..It sounds like to me that you have a corrupt cookie in Firefox. Delete your cookies and then try to log-in.

Harley, I had an issue first thing this morning with the same thing. I had to completely delete my Firefox cache. Once that was done I had to re-log into NPN. As I never sign out it took me awhile to figure out what was going on.

Not just Firefox. I first noticed it on my iPad this morning in Safari. After having the issues with Firefox, I just tried Safari on my laptop and am having the same problem.

I tried clearing my cache in FF as Paul mentioned and it didn't do any good, even after restarting the browser. I had to download Chrome just to be able to make this post, so I hope there's a quick fix coming...

Max, it sure seemed flaky this morning with FF for whatever reason. Once I got signed back on I've not signed out. At this point I'll consider it was luck on my side.

That worked. Thanks.

We're under the hood installing a new feature - that may be the cause. We'll have it all squared away ASAP.

No problems here with fire fox.

Yes, clear cookies if you cannot log in. Also, no need to log out!

I just saw this. I am still having issues (at home and work), so I will just wait and let you fix things.

Thanks for the heads up, Jim.

The script appears to cause log-in issues with certain browsers. In my case, I had to log-in again each time with Chrome. Both IE and Firefox worked OK. We have received emails from some who cannot log in at all.

I have temporarily deactivated the feature until we get the issue resolved.

Jim, just a heads up that FF just released #23 this morning. I'm on it right now and things seem OK at this point.

I updated FF and my OS just to be sure, restarted a couple times... still no love. Safari still isn't working either, btw.

I'm running OS 10.6.8 on this machine, 10.8.4 on my laptop and it's not working on either one.

I did not have to re-log in using Chrome though. Still, I don't plan on opening a new browser just for one website every time.

Max, have you deleted all NPN cookies? This seems to solve the problem.

Thanks to all for your patience. We made some headway on this today, the buttons are now active again. I can log in and out at will with IE, Firefox and Chrome with no issues.

If anyone is still having log-in issues, please send an email to editor@naturephotographers.net and let us know what platform and browser you are using.

Thanks!

Jim, deleting the cookies finally took care of it. Thank you!

I just had the same problem with Firefox. Deleting the NPN cookies and logging in again worked fine...thank goodness my browser still remembered my password, because I didn't!

Unfortunately, in my case it only took about six hours before the problem occurred again, and I had to delete the cookies once more to be able to re-log in. Bizarre.

While we're on the subject of browsers...

It's not a good idea to have your browser store passwords. Here's an article from HowToGeek about the risk:

http://www.howtogeek.com/169893/a-good-example-of-why-having-your-browser-save-passwords-might-be-a-bad-idea/

I use Last Pass, and also have all my pass words on paper safely filed away. I never allow my browser to save passwords.

I have been having the same experience as Max. Chrome (my principal browser) still requires entering my password. I have deleted my cookies 3 times and it works for a while. Then back to the same old same old.

There is a line of code we've added that seems to cause the issue (having to delete cookies to be able to log back in). Over the course of the last few days, I have installed/uninstalled the code several times, so that may be what you are seeing.

We're going to leave the code installed for now and see if we can resolve the log-in issues. If we can not, rest assured we will abandon the code.

Right now, I'm running IE 10, Firefox 23 and Chrome 28 and have had no further issues after clearing cookies with the script installed.

To clear cookies in Safari;

Safari > preferences > privacy then click on details and scroll to the npn cookie. click 'remove'.

As always, please email us at editor@naturephotographers.net if you have any issues logging in! When emailing us, let us know what browser you are using.
