Bin it? Black-tailed Godwit
Taken at Cley Marshes in Norfolk. A group of Bar-tailed Godwits were quite close to the roadside unfortunately with the sun right down the lens. No time for any flash or to learn any new expertise, so this is the outcome.

Early morning bright sunshine

Any comments appreciated (edit: Many thanks to David and John who ID'd this as a Black-tailed odwit - can't delete it now as it's the only image I have of one  )

Hi Graeme

Looks good to me - I wouldn't even consider the bin. If your comment is serious you must have some fantastic Bar-tails on file! (Are you sure re the ID looks more like a Black-tailed to me but can' be certain from this angle?)

Looks OK to me-plenty of detail in the shaded side of the bird-If you have better then bin it if you dont then its a keeper until you do-I would keep it its nice to see a backlite image

Ok, thanks for the ID guys. I was pretty sure it was a Bar-tailed, but now you mention it, the bill isn't curved and the upper leg portion seems quite long...that's what I'd try to ID it from anyway. Sorry..... should have just put Godwit  Very new to Waders and find it quite hard sometimes.

Appreciate the comments

I'm pretty sore on my own shots....bin seems to fill faster than hard disks at times...but I'd need to be exceptionally hard on myself to bin one like this.

Backlighting makes it very different.

Maybe time to change your signature line?

The backlighting appeals to me; possibly more than a boring frontlit portrait. Struggling to ID these myself, so am not sure what it is, but would definitely keep it.

It's the light, and the gorgeous breeding plumage that "makes" this shot....very nice.

Hi I like the image, I would keep it not bin it.
