The September 2013 issue of Nature Photographers Online Magazine is now ready for your viewing!

This month’s cover photo is an amazing shot by NPN member Scott Smorra. It is not only a spectacular scene, but also portrays the true adventure that can be a part of capturing such photos. Our thanks to Scott for posting this photo in the NPN galleries!

Articles

Alain Briot serves up part two of his series on Selling Fine Art Photographs.

Fred Weymouth offers a review of The Photographer’s Ephemeris, a software application that is of interest of nature photographers.

NPN in PDF

Starting this month, we will be conducting a trial run of offering the monthly issue – including the cover shot and articles – in a simplified format in PDF. We have found that this makes viewing the monthly content on portable devices much easier. We suggest you bookmark the following URL so that you can quickly access this file;

http://www.naturephotographers.net/PDF

The link will remain the same each month and can be accessed via the About menu at the top of the page. Please let us know what you think of this new feature!

NPN on Google+

In order to better market NPN membership, we have launched a Google+ online community where non-members can post their photos and ask questions. We also post the Weekly Picks, Gallery of the Month and new editions to give greater exposure of our members’ work. The community can be accessed via the Google+ icon found in the upper right corner of each page of the NPN website.

Social Media Sharing Buttons

A row of buttons can now be found under all photos posted in the NPN Galleries. These buttons allow any viewer – member or non-member – to post a LINK to your photo on various SM websites. Please note that your photo is NOT posted on these sites – only a link to where it appears on the NPN website! It is our hope that this new feature will bring greater exposure and appreciation of our members’ work without jeopardizing their copyrights and control of where their photos appear. A possible tweak of this new feature will be to allow you to decide whether these buttons appear when you upload the photo on NPN by checking (or not checking) a SM Sharing box – let us know if you like that idea!

NPN Mentors

NPN Mentors offer their paid mentoring services on a variety of photographic topics. If you are looking for some one-on-one help with your photography skills, be sure to check out what they have to offer! A list of current mentors can be found in the Mentor section of the Staff menu.

We hope you enjoy this 162nd edition!
