Does anyone know what tree/bush this is ? It is about 8-9 ft high, with spreading branches and flowering now in early autumn. I don't think it flowered in the Spring ( though that may simply be because our Spring was so cold ). it is growing in a local garden which has many species exotic to the UK ( quite a few from the Americas ).
Any help on the ID would be much appreciated.

Hi Ian I am pretty sure it is a Mallow shrub known as , Pink Chiffon Hibiscus Rose of Sharon.
Definitely a Rose of Sharon. Comes in many colors with either a single layered flower or one with multiple layers. Blooms late summer... also known to be the last rose of summer.

Thank you both, Lorna and Patricia. I never thought of hibiscus, which I've only seen in the single layered varieties.
