Here is Michael Gordon's east side color and conditions report from over Labor Day weekend. In some areas, he spotted trees and areas quite a ways along in color.

I was at the Lundy ponds on Saturday morning. The trees in the area behind the ponds had yet to turn. Yesterday along Virginia Lakes road, the upper sections seemed past, the lower areas near 395 were coming into prime. Lee Vining canyon around power house road is a mix of yellow and green, although most of the trees that were prime had a lot of brown spots on them when seen close up. They looked vibrant from a distance. Much to my surprise, there is plenty of water in Lee Vining creek. I would say the area will be prime in the next day or two.

Can anyone recommend Fall Foliage a couple hours from the Inland Empire. I have tomorrow off, but can't afford more than a 1 day trip. Lakes, ponds, streams or even a measly puddle would be a plus.

Thanks
