Mt. Evans Weathering the Storm
Yesterday we headed out with intentions to photograph the Botanic Gardens. I forgot there was an event there and the street/parking garage were [i]packed[/] so we changed our minds and decided to head up Guanella Pass to remind ourselves of some fall color locations and check on the condition of the tundra. It was a pleasant drive until the off ramp where we saw a small sign that the pass was closed until 3:30 (it was 1pm)due to a relay race. On our way back to town, we made one last attempt to see how things were going up to Echo Lake and Mt. Evans. That was open, but set to close at 5:30 due to possible mudslides, so we headed up with one eye to the sky. These trees at the Mt. Goliath parking area were well lit up just before the hail/rain moved in and we headed down!
I hope you all are fairing well in this crazy storm!
Thanks for looking. All C&C welcome!

This is stunning, Anne. Gorgeous black and white image. The tree trunk is so luminous and the storm moving in behind it - just awesome! :toast:

Timing is often everything in landscape photography and this image is classic example. The lighting on the tree is simply superb, providing an extra enhancement of the tree to stand out amongst the rest of the scene. Beautiful tonalities in the image and well done!

Excellent use of the square format Anne! Nicely balanced and well-executed.
