Now that I'm sitting around, waiting for the FEMA inspector to show up, I have time to post. I'd gone down to Monument Valley last month for the Mitten shadows (coincidentally, I was staying at the Recapture, where I was staying when we were evacuated due to the 4 Mile fire, now I was there and it was flooding at home), but the monsoons prevented any more than just the start of the shadow creeping up on the East Mitten. Then a light went on inside my head and I headed for White Pocket. These are some blue hour shots. C & C welcome!

The processing is a difficult question for me as it was getting dark & I want to preserve that, but I also don't want it to bee too dark to see any detail. Suggestions?

I hope your flood damage wasn't too severe!
My favorite of the two images is the top one, first because of the hint of warmth in the rock in the center of the frame, which contrasts nicely with the cool tone of the surrounding rock, and second because it has a bit more overall contrast than the bottom image, which looks a little too flat, blue, and dark for my taste.

Glenn, thanks for your concern. Our house is fine, but the bridge down in 4 Mile and the road further up were washed out. It meant a 1 mile walk home for a couple of weeks, then, when the temporary bridge went in, it was just 1/2 mile.
Actually, the 2nd one is just not that great of an image...... must have been the flood distraction that made me post it ;-)

Monika, I really like the comp on the first one. I wish there was that much water when I was there on Monday - it was dry and not a cloud in the sky. But I loved being there and enjoyed mostly scouting for next time. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice collection from your trip Monika. My favorites were #15 and #1 from your site. On #1 it's an excellent comp and I like how the cloud draws your eye back through the image and the anticrepuscular rays were a nice onus too. #15 I like again for the comp, great light on the formation and clouds in the background with almost a perfect reflection. Nice work!

I'm with Scott in that I also like #1 & #15 from your site quite a bit. I also like the two you posted here. The repost of #2 is much better. Perhaps brightening the reflection there might be an asset. You were blessed with some fine conditions and country, that's for sure.

Jared, Scott & John: Thanks for your comments & for looking. It was certainly worth another day's drive to get there with all that water!
