I just caught wind of this, Phillip. I seriously can't remember the last time I was this pissed off. Those three fatass rednecks deserve the second degree felony they're facing. And they claim to be Boy Scout leaders? What the hell kind of example are they setting?!

That is disgusting. I hope they get the book thrown at them. The way they cheered when it went down is sick. No way they could use that as an excuse that they were saving a kids life...where's the kid?????

Like Phillip, I'm not buying their story, either. Let's hope their punishment includes a lifetime ban from entering any Utah state park.

I don't understand why people do such things. Last time I was in Zion I saw names scratched on canyon walls in the Narrows and also in other places that most people don't go. In the Smokies, EVERY single historic structure is absolutely covered in graffiti. Someone even wrote on a log cabin in black ink "I Love the Smokies". Really? I've been going to Tent Rocks Nat. Mon. outside of Santa Fe for over 20 years. As soon as it was made a National Monument, people started pushing the caprocks off the hoodoos that they could reach! The famous "Teapot" in Fantasy Canyon in Utah is now destroyed. Beautiful petroglyphs along the San Juan River are defaced with vulgarities. Pictographs all over NW Colorado and NE Utah (and likely many other places) are being used for target practice. I've heard about spray painted graffiti on rocks at the Grand Canyon and even on Saguaros in the desert!!
What is wrong with people??

This is why I disable any GPS features in my cameras!
WTF?! Ignorant redneck idiots! Hopefully they do time, have to pay a steep fine, have to work an insane number of community service hours for the Utah Parks, followed promptly by a life time ban. There is no excuse or reason for this type of behavior.

I am not sure I have any words to express my anger over this. Their story - complete BS.
And its this kind of thing - by a few - that will ruin opportunities for respectful appreciation of nature.

Imagine the nerve to conjure up a story like that when their own cinematic expertise proves otherwise.
Rock formations like that are so unique, you'd think you'd want to PRESERVE that. Obviously these rocket surgeons were hoping more for viral video fame than to be good stewards of the earth. And if so, they're wish came true. I'd better stop here or I'll blow my stack as well.

Hopefully these guys get more than a slap on the wrist.
This is exactly why I strongly oppose the concept of a visitors center at the entrance to Bisti for a proposed "San Juan Basin Badlands National Monument". This idea was floated a few years ago, but I haven't heard anything since. Providing legal protection for the various New Mexico badlands is great, but don't erect a big neon sign to attract idiots like these !!!
I'm disgusted and outraged beyond words I sincerely hope these guys get what's coming to them.

Doubt these boys are making Eagle!

First off, it's great to see someone actually 'caught in the act' as it were. They should be made an example of with their punishment.
I find the role that social media played in all of this quite interesting. They were idiots for posting this on Facebook (although I'm glad they did) and now within two days the YouTube video has had 3.5 million views. Almost every major media outlet has reported the story, as well. These fellows are going to have some 'interesting' lives in the next several weeks.
*EDIT*
Seems like their lives are getting 'interesting' already:

Their teens, he said, "were playing a game called lava. You see who can get farthest in the park leaping from top of rock to top of rock without touching the ground. … We were just meandering through the park talking when we came upon that [balanced-rock] boulder and it budged.
So not only did they destroy this rock, they admit they were jumping on top of other formations too, no wonder the rock "budged". Complete MORONS!

The guy who pushed over a boulder has been using someone for a car accident, claiming he was "disabled:"
