Badger
Badgers have always been my bogey mammal-lots of effort and mimimum results,People always seem to get badgers in daylight and i only ever see them in the dark,However things changed tonight,The fox cubs are within 50 metres of 2 badgers setts so i have been baiting one over the last week and every morning check and the food is gone,This evening i went to the fox cubs with the intention of doing a night at the badgers afterwards,The cubs didnt appear so i set up for the badgers,At 9.15 i thought i would take a quick look to see if the cubs had appeared so crept up the road and there was mum and cubs so i went back to my camera gear only to find a badger tucking in early,Problem was it was between me and the camera,i waited a couple of minutes and made a move towards the camera and to my suprise it stayed put,A very young badger more interested in filling its belly than me,I hadnt antisipated its size and the doc leaves were too tall and in the way so i walked my camera around and got some shots at a different angle,Its not the best shot in the world but an amazing experience,i even went up and removed a doc leaf from in front of the badger and it only moved back 2 feet then came straight back,I will do a bit of garening down there tomorrow and back there for the next few nights

Hello Dave
You have certainly found an excellent place which is producing some great images. On my monitor this one seems to have quite a pronounced yellow cast, I altered it by 27 points in CS and it seemed a lot better.
Thanks for the narrative too, it always makes an image more interesting when you know the "hows" and "whys".
Best wishes

Dave,
Nice shot, could have done with some flash in the background, as heavy shadow. These guys are great animals to watch, I am off to Wales next week to spend a few nights with them! Agree with yellow cast, Phil what do you mean by altered 27 points, I really must learn about this photoshop thing!

Thanks

Brian

Hi Dave,

Sounds like your having some fun with these guys!! That is what I love about Wildlife Photography, the fact you are sitting there watching animals acting totally naturally and seeing things that not many people would have witnessed, and if you come away with some images all the better.

Anyway nice pic, agree with the yellow cast but easily rectified.

Looking forward to more in the series.

Regards

Rob

 too jealous to comment, the weather up here is really grey in the late evenings so no light around and my badger project has gone to pot
 Nice shot dave its the sort of confidence and interaction that i am hoping for when the grey clouds lift, So with a bit of luck and an optimistic outlook that should be some time in the next 60 or so years when global warming kicks in properly.
