Love that swirl of gold reflection in the midframe right. Very nice.

Nice light on the trees and river...seems that you avoided hot sun spots piercing the tree leaves and crashing upon the river. Well done...not an easy comp to crop! Good inclusion of colors and flow to lead the viewer to the far end.
Wonderful shot, Greg, and just full of both direct and reflected color. Nice you could join us for a bit.

Thanks very much for the comments. There were a few hot spots from direct sun, most of which I tried to avoid with my cropping, but also I'm finding that the sensors and processors in recent generation of digital cameras can handle a dynamic range that I could only dream about 10 years ago when shooting transparency film. In fact, I probably wouldn't have even tried this shot on Fuji Velvia, knowing it wouldn't handle the contrast. The shadow and highlight controls on Lightroom 5 certainly helped, as well. If anyone is interested in the tech stuff: Nikon D600, Nikkor 24-85 @ 78mm, ISO 50, 1 sec at f/16, polarizer to cut glare on the leaves as well as bring the shutter speed down. I was tempted to use Content Aware Fill to get rid of the house in the background and the old cement bridge supports on the river banks.

Beautiful Greg! This definitely a better rendition than what I captured.
It was very nice to meet you and have you shoot with us at Elk Meadows.
