Tonight I started up CS4 and got an error message: The program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

After trying to close the error box several times, PS finally comes up, but my NIK plug in panel is totally gone. I just used it a couple days ago and was working fine.

I found one of the individual programs and tried to run it that way, but get the same message.

In looking at the folders in the NIK collection, it appears something happened today at 1:05 pm (while I was at work). Maybe a bad update was auto installed?

I downloaded NIK from the internet - so no disc. How can I reinstall, without having to buy it all over again? I don't remember getting a serial number or anything when I purchased it on the 'net.

This is exactly why I hate the idea of having to go to a cloud based design...if I had a disc, I could easily reinstall.

Whoops! Another Microsoft dynamic link library file (DLL) goes corrupt, isn't that rare... NOT. Ok, here's the deal: that file is one of the library files that gets included whenever a software developer creates a program with Microsoft Visual Studio, which looks to be what Nik software was written with. The good news is that doing a reinstall will pop a fresh MSVCP110.dll onto your system. Just head to Niksoftware.com and it'll redirect you to Google's new page for it. Go ahead and download and install the trial version, it should find your existing license files in your AppData folder (a hidden Windows folder that holds resource files for installed software). When Nik fires up it should already be registered again. If that doesn't work, post back. As far as the Cloud, I had to do an impromptu photo shoot for my company and they wanted the images right away, so I hit the Cloud and downloaded Photoshop and my Nik efex as my second install and got the job done. Sometimes an online storage resource is convenient. Just my $.02!

Angela, the EXACT same thing happened to me and I was set to spend today trying to figure out what happened and what I could do about it. So I was sooo glad to see Paul's advice! I will try his suggestions and see what happens. . .I'll let you know if it works. I've gotten quite dependent on my Nik programs.

Ok, I followed Paul's advice and reinstalled the software via the "trial version". While it was installing, NOTHING popped up that it was already on my computer and thus didn't need to be re-installed. While it was installing, I noticed lots of deleting and extracting going on above the install bar. I do now have my programs back. . .but did I just delete my "installed and paid for" version, and now just have a "trial" version? I don't want to pay for the programs again!

No you did not. I have had to reinstall the Nik software with the trail versions and it retains your serial number. If you have a problem Google/Nik will help you through it. Their tech support has been great for me

Hali, thanks! What a relief! It is also good to know that their support staff has worked well for you. Before I got Paul's suggestions, I was planning to check in with the Nik support team, hoping it wouldn't be a hard thing to resolve.

Myer, yes, I see these additions--great!

Thanks NPN for coming through! :wavey:

I contacted Nik and they said to do exactly as outlined by others here. If you have a previous licensed version the trial version will remain in place after expired trial date according to the tech support folks.
I downloaded the latest and installed it. All the plugins are now back and I've lost the error message when opening CS5.

Thanks to those who had already provided some guidance here.

I'm sure glad people are rolling again! Sometimes the license info gets picked up and sometimes not, and I wonder if that's more of a Windows thing and not Nik/Google. Oh well, at least you're all back in business.

When Google sent the download link originally, did everyone do a Save As and save the installer file, or did you just Run it so it would auto-install? I always save the installer .EXE file when possible, often it allows a repeat installation.

BTW, there is a sort of a sneaky way to get Google to re-send you the download link: request to change your email address. I know, that's a pain, but even if you create a Gmail or Yahoo account to use, and request that Google changes your registered email to it (or any other email address you have handy), they will send you the download link again. Take advantage of that and save the installer file. You can request the email change right here, Just an idea... I haven't tested that page, I just came across it.

Yep, saved the entire thing on an external drive where I kept the original stuff. I was going to just load the original but the later stuff was much more current. Thanks for the overall input Paul De.
