For years I used a Nikon F2, It was a lovely camera. The pictures of the Df are intriguing, especially the one with the mechanical cable release. The only thing it's lacking is a thumb lever.

Too bad now I shoot Canon.

For $400 less you can get a smaller, lighter, mirrorless camera with 36 megapixels, more dynamic range, HD video, the ability to use lenses from most major manufacturers (with adapters), better ergonomics, higher/cleaner ISO, and the best image quality yet measured by DXO. The Sony a7R is on my wish list. This Nikon looks to be nothing more than a gimmick or collector's item IMHO.

I have been using one as my walking around camera and love it. No it does not replace the D3 or D4 but Ill tell you I find myself grabbing this more often not. Its been poo pooed by a bunch of reviewers and those that have not had one in their hands. Call it what you want but until you have used it why guess. The D4 sensor is solid file and this is a really nice camera in both layout and design. If you need video then your not going to be looking at this body anyway.
