A bunch of Ice
Had some fun up in Glacier Gorge a few weeks ago, shooting Glacier Creek ice. I showed up that day not really expecting much but ended up happy with the flowing creek ice. This past weekend I went back and had nothing to shoot. Based on weather that week, I'm fairly confident I understand the weather patterns that make this kind of flowing creek ice. Just cost me $120.00 in gas.... Live and learn.

Comments and critique welcome.

These are pretty cool, Kane. Number 3 is my favorite. It has a nice comp that makes my eyes go down the left side with the water, and then "swoosh" back up the right, if that made any sense.  I like the pattern in number 4, but feel it would be best served minus the pine needles.

#3 is also my favorite. Very nice set.

I like them all for different reasons. I like 4 but the needles don't add much to it... Nice job!

Very cool series IMO. While each one of these are terrific, I LOVE 3! The BG water really adds another needed layer. I personally am not fond of the pine needles in the last image, they seem to just be distrating for me. However, I like the ice formation in it a lot.

Very nice Kane - I like the comp in #1 a lot, but looks a little too blue to my taste, may be that was the natural color though

Of these, #3 is my pick for favorite. The lighter and darker areas of blue in the hole really draw attention, kinda jin-yang, and showcase the ice edges I also like your ESS submission.
With #1, have you considered a square crop of the right 2/3? Like others stated, #4 without the needles would be better, imo also.
Neat stuff!

#2 really shows the clarity of the ice and, to me, that just shouts mountain stream. You've captured these with lots of energy and powerful visual impact. Looks like a fun day

Nice work Kane. I like them all but #3 the most.

Excellent work, Kane! I like all of them quite a bit (incl. the submission in the Landscape gallery).
#1 is a bit heavy on the blues, but it's one of my favorites otherwise. I have to agree that the fine abstract qualities in #4 are compromised by the needles. You sure had a fine and productive outing here!

No Needles! Boy I went into that one thinking scale would be cool , but with Ice it's not about scale, its about the abstract! Thanks for that feedback. I'll admit, I'm not sure Iv'e ever been enamored by dead pine needles LOL! #1 can certainly be warmed up, I struggled a bit with the bluebird sky reflection.

1 through are grabbers. 4 isn't getting it for me, and I don't think it's the needles necessarily, it's more about being a little more dull compared to the rest. 1 is outstanding!

#1 and #3 are the cream of the crop in my opinion, just love those comps!

Great set Kane! I really love #1, though it has a very tense feel with all those jagged serrations and points. #3 is gorgeous as well.

Pretty nice, Kane! I like 3. I might crop the extreme lhs of 1, it's pretty cool too. Well, theyre all cool.
