Thinking about getting some winter shots of this Mt. What's the best and/or closest viewpoint that's accessible by vehicle all year. I see Johnson's Ridge closed in Oct. A nice sunrise might show itself this weekend with the possible clear to partly cloudy forecast. thanks.

The highway is usually plowed and open up to the former Coldwater Ridge Visitor Center, which is now called Mount St. Helens Science & Learning Center. The Center is only open 10-4 on weekends during winter, however. You may or may not be able to get to the viewing deck at other hours.

This photo is taken from the Castle Lake Overlook along the highway. Barring recent heavy snow, you shouldn't have any problem parking there for sunrise or sunset. Elk Rock Viewpoint, just at the MSHNVM boundary also has a nice view.
