While it was snowing in Flagstaff, beneath the clouds in Sedona the sun spotted through yesterday evening. For a few minutes before sunset, the redrock in Sedona was caught some light. Another image from Sunday evening is posted in ESS.

Spotlights and stormclouds, my favorite kind of light! This is awesome, Doug, and the simple telephoto comp highlights all the elements just to the right degree.

What both Don and Jackson said. Magnificent!

Thanks for the comments. After a gray day, the sun breaking through was nice to see.
Do you think that just a tad more brightness is needed?

Luck favors the prepared, and you were there at the right time. Real nice capture, Doug! I like this a lot.
I don't think it needs any more brightness, but a contrast boost would serve that purpose in certain areas while darkening others for a bit more drama.
A minor suggestion might be to clone out the bright spot at the bottom of the shaded cliff just to the right of the lit one.

Johns suggestions are my observations as well. Nice capture Doug!

Thanks for the suggestion on the contrast. It and little brightness gave more depth to the image.

My second look, a tighter comp would make this one more dramatic in my opinion. First, the sandstone towers in fantastic light are the headline. The cool clouds fill in the rest. My recommendation is to eliminate some of the negative space on the top and bottom of the image. Try it Doug... It's more umpactful

Absolutely awesome and dramatic! I do agree with Kane about eliminating some of the space at bottom. I was thinning about an inch below the red rock vertical formation on the bottom right. But either way, still a great image.
