Anyone going to the luminaria lighting at Mesa Verde next week (Dec 5th)? It looks like a good photo event.
I'm planning on driving down that day and then heading home the next day. Might be a good chance for an impromptu RMNP get together.

I wish I could... But no chance this year!

I went to Spruce Tree House on a similar event back when they had the centennial celebration for the park. It was very crowded and hard to take photographs without a dozen people walking into the shot. Regardless it was a neat experience seeing the ruins lit up at night.

Thanks Scott. My plan is to get there rather early and stake out a spot. We'll see how that works...

Did anyone go to this? Let's see some photos!

I didn't make it due to weather and road closures.
I have been told by a friend attending Ft Lewis in Durango that it was a wash...blizzard like conditions on the Mesa made for poor visibility, etc.
There's always next year.

I've been wanting to do this for a few years now, but didn't make it this year and from your report, it sounds like I lucked out by not going. Definitely pays to be a local when dealing with the vagaries of winter weather.

There's always next year, Don! I'm glad I didn't make the 6+ hour drive for nothing. Thanks to John Mumaw for also keeping me updated on the weather conditions out that way.
