Cute Coot chick!!
Taken at Stover in Devon. One of five of the ugliest chicks I've ever seen  His parents love them obviously. This one climbed onto this half submerged log for a couple of frames. Cloned out a few branches in the BG but it was pretty black anyway!! Cropped 50% and usual PS processing

Comments welcome as always

Amazingly ugly at that age,The chick stands out well against the dark background and a nice diagonal with the branch :toast:

I'm not a huge fan of black backgrounds, but this one works really well as a backdrop to the oranges and reds of the chick. - nice one

Stands out nicely against the background, nice and sharp, good exposure and composition - all round a cracking image.

BOY... YOU IS UGLY! I think the dark background works well here as it really focusses the eye on on the technicolour mohican. Nice depth of field resulting in wonderful detail on the bird's feathers. Also like the way the birds grey down is matched by the colour of the tree bark :toast:
