I went to see my mother in Montrose for the Thanksgiving weekend And as luck would have it Fog was moving in and out of the Black Canyon for most of the weekend. And since it's only about 10 miles from Montrose and free during the winter I managed to make it up there a few time to capture the fog moving in and out of the canyon. As far as I know it didn't completely fill the canyon. I only saw it come in just past the painted wall.
The sun rising behind me made for some great color in the fog.

The vast fog in #1 is cool looking and looks like a river of clouds moving through the canyon. I wonder if the white balance for the sky is a little too warm. The texture of the clouds tops shows well.

Looks like some pretty unique conditions. 1 and 2 are the standouts for me. I thought 1 was easily my favorite, but upon further review 2 is gaining ground quickly. Thanks for sharing!
Very nice work, Michael! The interplay of the clouds and crags in #2 put it a little ahead for me, but the feeling of space in #1 with its sense of flow in the clouds is pretty awesome too!
