Canyon Reclaimed
The recent temperature inversion caused the Grand Canyon to be reclaimed by the sea. A sea of fog persisted for a few days and made a trip to the big ditch worthwhile.

#1 Sinking Ship and Coronado Butte.

#2 Vishnu Sea. Vishnu Temple pokes above the sea of clouds. I kept the WB cool to give the clouds a bluer look to go with the orange sky of dawn.

When I posted in the other thread about this event, I was hoping that someone got it, and no surprise that you did, Doug. Excellent set!

My only suggestion is to call me next time so I can meet you down there for such extraordinary conditions.

Congrats, Doug. You capitalized really well! :toast:

Great work Doug, all are very good but my favorite is #2, just love those colors and good decision to keep the clouds blue.

Wow! Excellent move going to the canyon on this day as you got some priceless images. #'s 2 ('Vishnu Rising'?) & 5 are just superb, as is the one in the Landscape gallery. Good decision re: WB with #2.

Bravo!! :toast:
These conditions were occurring throughout the Mountain West (incl. my town), but there was no better place to witness it.
Looks like Adam Schallau was there also.

Really nice series Doug! Love #5...I don't think I have ever seen that much fog in the Grand Canyon before. Very cool

Great shots Doug. I'm jealous. Overall I like the simplicity and isolation of #2. Congrats!

Great stuff and conditions. 1 and 5 are my favs. Do you know what the temperatures were, at the top and at river level?

Amazing conditions and photography to go along with it! I like them all, but am partial to 2 and 5. Glad you were there to take advantage of the situation.

Awesome stuff, Doug! They all have their own appeal, but #1 and #5 are my personal favorites. Your ESS shot is even better, though, just a great comp in amazing conditions. I can only imagine how intense that cloud ceiling looked to folks down on the river.
