I think we should have a zoo gallery, since zoo photos are not allowed in the wildlife gallery anymore. I doubt any of us would have been able to see this bat - feeding behavior from our photographers, unless they are on assignment from Nat Geo. This photo was posted in the Weekly Challenge last week. I have many gorgeous photos from the Houston Zoo, where animals are in a more natural enclosures than old zoos. And, most of my photos do not have poles, fences or any other "hand of man" things in the photos.
Just since Nov. 15th, some wonderful photos have been posted of tigers, other cats, birds, wolves and reindeer by Howard Cheek, Ken Watkins, Joseph James, Chet Dowell, and John Tobias!
Howard's swimming tiger and Ken's cubs are a "must see". And they are posted in the POP category ---"This "non-nature" photo gallery is for the serious discussion of photographic technique and thoughtful, constructive critique of those photos . As long as it’s G-rated, non-offensive and suitable for all viewers, anything goes."
I would argue, that the photos I've mentioned are nature photos, not photos of objects and places, per se. Not all of us are lucky enough Or wealthy enough to go on safari or live in exotic locales.
Well, I've stood on my soapbox enough today. Please give this request serious consideration.

I agree completely. There is actually another "art" to creating photos from Zoos so they don't look like Zoo photos.

I don't do any critter photography, but I do think a Critique Gallery for captive or zoo animals is appropriate. I've looked at the images Lucy mentioned, and they are wonderful. They, and upcoming images in the genre deserve their own gallery.
