Proxy Falls, one of my favorites anywhere. An abstract view towards the middle of the raging waters. This was only a small slice out of a truly massive cascade over mossy Basalt terraces. Canon 5D, 70-200 f/4 at 130mm, 1 second at F18, polarizer.
Marc, this is wonderful. The look is one of many intricacies and boldness. Perhpas one area of improvement may have been to not disclude the rock formation at the top of the frame. I realize that the potential for other, unwanted elements exists and that this may be the better of two undesirealbes. Regardless, you have really produced a beautiful image in this photo. Well done.
is it open now?!? Did they open the highway (century dr?) it wasn't 2 weeks ago. I haven't made it to these falls, but love the images I see. I've seen a few from you I think, and they are each strong.
Really feel the sense of power of the water working it's way down the terraces. I love my 70-200 f4L to death - I have a few to share from it. This is really nice (as usual), Marc...
OK.... This is ( believe it or not) Ohio. Its Brandywine Falls, within the Cuyahoga National Park. It's ain't Oregon but it's as good as it gets here. They kind of look similar except I have to shoot through some foliage to get the shot. This is probably a smaller falls than Proxy, ( drop is only about 120')---but remember guys & gals... this is OHIO!
The orange highlight on the top is caused by iron deposits on the rock ( fairly common here in Ohio)
I shot this the other day after 3 days of rain and there is so much water coming over the falls than there normally is, that makes the detail not that great. This is a better shot in the summer when there isn't much water.
There are a few waterfalls in the Midwest but nothing like you folks have.
