Another photo from Ecuador. A friend had spotted this Amazon tree boa (Corallus hortulanus) high up in a tree one night. When we went back the next evening he was just hanging out on a branch by the path and seemed quite happy to have its photo taken.

Nikon D70, Tamron 90mm macro
f/11 1/60s
built in flash (why do batteries always run out at the worst time  )

I wouldnt want to walk around there without a torch,The built in flash has done a very good job with the exposure and the focusing is spot on,Great colours in the scales,A larger aperture may have made the body less prominant but a very good image all the same :toast:

Must have been great to see in the wild and I'm impressed with the results you got from the built-in flash!

Impressive from a built in flash..... love the look from the snake....

My only nit is that I prefer the shot with the top of the snake cropped out, as presented it looks to be two snakes or seperate elements with the top part not relating to the bottom if you see what I mean.

Must have been a great experience.

Can't believe this is the result of a built-in-flash... its brilliant. Glad I spent £250 on sperate guns! A lovely shot with great details. The black BG really wokrs well and makes for a different style of wildlife image. :toast:
