2013 was a decent year for travels to new locations and being lucky enough to witness some fabulous scenes. I also spend a great deal of time learning to perfect some post processing techniques which has opened up new possibilities.
It was also a good year to be able to meet some folks on this forum. Really great group of people for sure!
Stellar collection Ken. Very difficult to choose a favorite. I'd have to lean towards Clear Creek Falls or Buffalo Pass. But only if forced to choose.

Really nice work, Ken. Looks like you capitalized really well on good conditions at great locations. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful collection Ken. My faves are Ribbon of White, Nags Sunset, and Clear Creek Morning. Hope you had a chance to get out and shoot a bit while you were here.
My favorite is by far the Mexican Hat wildflowers, beautifully set off by its selective focus. Very unique image! The others were also wonderful but not quite as unique as the flowers.
Pockets Reflection is my favorite but I also enjoyed the Macro work and the super contrasty False Kiva. Nice set Ken, looking forward to your 2014 set.

Ken, your travels took you to some very nice locations, including my favorite spot atop the Paria plateau. Of your 13, my favorite image would be Clear Creek Morning.
Ken, that's a great collection. Nice work learning some techniques to handle some of the high-contrast scenes such as the Mesa Arch shot. Looks like it was a good year for your travels, and not just the Spring Fling in Moab! (I still have to laugh at the photographer who left False Kiva, saying that the light was gone...) I assume "Clear Creek Morning" is the waterfall shot, #4? It's a great balance of sky and long exposure for the water in the falls. And I love seeing the shot from Cameron Pass, which takes me back to my days in grad school in Laramie when I would sneak down to explore the areas outside Fort Collins looking for big mountains!
(But hey -- how did you get an image that large on the main page? Curious photographers want to know!)
Good luck in '14,
Mark.

Thanks for the looks and kind words.
Mark, I believe there must have been a glitch in the system that displayed the opening image as the larger version. I normally now follow the new procedure and just post a larger version. It should have resized it down to 720, but obviously didn't. Kinda wish the site would just go to the larger version, period. When are we going to see some coastal images from you?? That or Columbia Gorge waterfalls....
Would you believe I haven't been out to the coast yet? It's about four or four-and-half hours out there, and I've been too busy with work to get out that much. Changing to a new school and down from high school to middle school has made me feel like a first-year teacher again, with the commensurate crush of work. I'm hoping to get out more in the spring, and to start doing some things with the Mountaineers group for some alpine exploring. I'm tired of months passing by with nothing to show for it!
I did get down to the Gorge once, and I'll try to get at least one shot posted from it when I post a '13 retrospective in the next few days (possibly tonight...) Thanks for asking, though!
Ken, impressive collection for 2013! My favorites were the Buffalo Pass shots and the White Pocket reflection. I hope 2014 is as productive for you It was nice to see you at Spring Fling and on Buff Pass. Hope our paths cross again this year.
