HATS OFF! to DENNIS PLANK for his inspired FIRST PLACE photo of a sparrow on a branch. Honorable Mentions go to Scott Smorra for a lovely winter showing of a Mt. Hood scene and to Marylynne Diggs for her radiant Sisters & Broken Top shot. Well done!

ALSO-- A hearty welcome to Mark Hespenheide. Thanks for jumping right in with contest entries. We look forward to more of your posts and to your hopefully joining us on outings.

Catherine & Steve
-----------------

Post up to three photos taken in the Pacific Northwest between December 22, 2013 and March 21, 2014 in this thread to enter our Winter PNWNP Seasonal Photo Contest!!

The winning photo will be displayed on our splash page this winter, and be added to our forum banner for one year.

Please keep in mind these guidelines:

-Any NPN member may enter up to three images.

-The image must be taken in the Pacific Northwest ("anything you can see from Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia") in the current season (for example, see the dates above for the current contest).

-Submitted images must follow the NPN Posting Guidelines and fit within one of the Gallery Guidelines for the Avian, Environmental Photojournalism, Flora, Landscape, Macro/Close-up, Man & Nature, Photo Art, and Wildlife Galleries.

-One winning image and two honorable mentions will be chosen by the PNWNP moderators, and thus PNWNP moderators are not allowed to enter images.

-The winning image will be featured on the Cover Shot for the following season and in the forum banner for four seasons.

Good luck, and good shooting!

Where is everyone? Here goes with my first one. This was taken at the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge just south of State Line Road on February 20th.

Here's another one from the same trip. This was taken on the Tule Lake NWR auto tour route on February 19th. I had a bit of snow that morning that lasted long enough to get some snow backgrounds. For the non-birders, this is a Savannah Sparrow.

And last, here's a Dark-eyed Junco from my back yard (a couple of miles south of Littlerock, WA) taken on January 25th.

Jump aboard everyone!

Well, I'm new to the area (having relocated from UT and, before that, AZ then CA) and am still learning the area, but here's a few from a late-January trip out to the Olympics.

[1] Barnes Creek, on the north side of the Olympics.
