I noticed that the Apostle Islands Ice Caves are open. This is the first time since 2009 that they have been accessible by Lake Superior. It is also the earliest that I have seen them open. It helps that we have had some bitterly cold weather in December and January.
In my opinion the ice caves are some of the most spectacular scenery that Wisconsin has to offer. It is well worth planning a visit.
You can check on ice conditions by calling the automated Apostle Islands Ice Line at (715)779-3398, extension 3, for current ice conditions at the mainland caves.

It's been a good winter for ice and snow photo ops. I really like the perspective in this image and the variety of ice and snow sculptures. Good eye, Phil.

Cool! I wish I had been able to see them when I was visiting Wisconsin. Hope a few folks can get out to see them this winter.
