Here are the release notes and instructions for Nik's latest version. Looks like they went after some of the crashes and other issues finally, as well as speeding up load times. That's probably the one that drives me batty, the time it takes for Color Efex Pro to load from Photoshop. For a landscape image, no biggie. For 1,200 wedding images, yeah, that gets crazy, lol.

UPDATE, 1/27/2014:

Important: If anyone downloads the Trial and installs it, it will work if you already have your initial version installed that you downloaded from the email that Nik/Google sent you in March 2013. They DID bury license info in everyone's EXE file I've discovered (from Nik's own people in the forum). So, a trial download that you install over the top of your existing installation will work, it picks up the license from the existing install. BUT, if you install the trial clean on a machine where no Nik is installed yet, it will NOT know who you are and it will prompt you to Buy or continue as Demo, and I haven't seen any place to login and get the trial converted (if there is, someone please let us know).

I just tested all of this on my work (2nd) PC. So, you need that initial EXE you downloaded last year if you want to install Nik clean on a PC that doesn't have it yet, OR, find the email and click the download button, and Nik will shove down the latest version in an EXE file that does have your license info embedded. Very old-school way of deployment, not sure why they chose this path. They at least could have made that much clearer to everyone, then we could have burned 43 copies and sent them around to everyone we know for safe-keeping, lol.

Thanks as always for your keen ear to the ground, Paul. I'm anxiously awaiting the email from them!

Thanks Paul. I got the download just now.

Ah! Thank you, Paul. I always thought that the fact that I could eat lunch while waiting for Color Efex Pro to load into PS was something with my computer. Obviously not. Thanks for this update!

how the heck do you know if you're going to get a download? John mentions an email, Paul says he just got it. I opened PS per Nik instructions and versions still says 1.109. Will they send an email or "just do it" and if the latter is there any way to know short of continually launching Nik and clicking on logo?

John: Actually the instructions say that Photoshop, Lightroom and Aperture (depending on what you have) need to be closed, not open.

From the Nik Website:
The update will occur automatically for you when your computer is on-line and Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom and Aperture are closed.

or install it yourself:

You can also install the update now by visiting our homepage and download/install the trial. Don't worry, your software will remain activated after installing the trial!

Exactly. Just sit and let it arrive on its own. Is that the weirdest way to deploy an update or what? It's one of the biggest complaints in the Nik forum going right now. But that's Google for you, they automatically assume, just like Microsoft, that everyone is enjoying 60mb/sec download speeds with their internet service, lol! With this particular update it's especially frustrating for those with slow internet because this update is supposed to be 350MB, not the usual 100MB, so it'll definitely take a while if that's the case. I can't actually confirm the download size because we don't see it!

I went to the site and followed directions Keith points out. I just downloaded the TRIAL and then installed from the saved file.

I've not had a chance to really use it being in the field all morning. However, I did open it last night played with a couple changes and it worked just fine. Already being a registered owner the trial should not be any issue. In fact, if I recall correctly back to the open update they gave us last year I think it went the same way at that time for previous registered owners.

I'm on DSL and it took a full 10 minutes to download the file. It was about 350 - 375 MB as Paul mentions.Ver 1.1.1.0........

I looked in the "about plug-ins" section of the help menu in Photoshop, and I do have the latest Nik version. No clue whatsoever when it got installed!

I understand that PS, LR, etc need to be closed. I had them closed but to see the Nik version one must then open them. Once opened still showed 1.109 not 1.110. Just now, Jan 29, still 1.109 so no update done to me, no email, no nothing. Guess they don't like me

Hey John, head over to the Nik Website and click on the "Try Now" button on the top right (next to the Buy button). Select your platform of Mac or Windows and download the big honkin' installer file, it's over 350MB. Run that installer and your Nik license will (should) be detected. It's worth the update, CEP really does respond faster.

John, I just found the original email from March 2013 where Google announced the merger and that I could get the suite, and when I clicked on the download button in the email, the file that popped up was the latest version, formatted with my serial number. I installed it on my work PC and it works great, v1.1.1.0

Important: If anyone downloads the Trial and installs it, it will work if you already have your initial version installed that Nik sent you. They DID bury license info in everyone's EXE file I've discovered (from Nik's own people in the forum), the one that you downloaded from the first email last year.
