Is anybody using Fine Art America to sell their photos. If so, what do you think of the site and the service?

Hi,
I use Fine Art America and it works OK for me. The prints that I have seen were well done and they have a fairly reliable support staff. I especially like the acrylic prints and have purchased prints of my images at cost for gifts. The main issue is that there are so many artists on the site that you have to rely on a lot of self promotion and advertising in order to sell images. It is just like any other art selling venues--promoting your art leads to sales. Placing appropriate key words for web search criteria with your images is also necessary for successful sales. Hope this helps................Jim
Hello, I totally agree with Jim. You cannot expect to sell a lot with it since the very beginning. Keywording, self promotion, advertisement are needed but the prints are of really good quality. Cheers, Maciej

I set up an account but never uploaded any photos because I had some very basic questions about sizing to which I kept getting programmed answers that didn't answer my question so I'd say the support stinks

I have shops on FAA and on Etsy as well as my regular Zenfolio site, and I get far more views on FAA and Etsy than on my Zenfolio site (Etsy has been the best for sales for me). I think it helps that people are searching from an already established venue. It's a good idea to join groups etc., i.e. be a part of the community, comment on others' photos. This helps to increase your exposure. Actually I'm thinking of downgrading my Zenfolio site so that it's chiefly a gallery and not a sales site; no point in paying that kind of annual subscription for something that doesn't bring sales.
I would like to echo what Nancy has just said. I had a sale the first two weeks I was on FAA. I also have a Zenfolio site and see nowhere near the traffic on it. Becoming an active community member is important. Also, when you submit work to FAA you can have an announcement automatically posted to your business Facebook page as well as to Twitter. This generates a lot of interest. Your FAA website is automatically updated and features a blog, which will also drive people to look at your work. I would most definitely recommend FAA.

I find FAA to be pretty convenient (not having to fulfill orders), and I've never had a return, so customers seem satisfied with the print quality.
