Yesterday, several of us got together to pay our final respects to CNP and to celebrate the future of this great group. Jesse Speer, Scott Borger, Jim Rice and myself met at Rainbow Curve on Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Unfortunately, just as we met they closed the road due to a small landslide. Despite this unexpected challenge, we geared up and headed up the road. We walked all the way up to Forest Canyon Overlook. The light and clouds cooperated and we had a great night. Thanks guys for the great company. That's what CNP or whatever it becomes is all about.
Niceguys, thanks for posting! Hope to get up there on Saturday with another CNP'er, maybe do some trees and such before heading up high. Amazing the lack of snow..
Rene, that was shot at 280mm (70-200mm + 1.4 TC) on my 5D, from the Gore Range overlook between the visitor center and Rock Cut. Scott, I plan to play around more with my stream shots, as I was thinking b/w when standing there. The abstraction was fun. You came away with some nice compositions. Good work. Here's a wider shot ...
Scott, I forgot to tell you, but I really like the space around your "two rocks" foreground composition at Dream Lake. That, and the higher water level make it a great, "less cluttered" take on a very familiar composition.
Erik, your title and photo caused me a moment of concern! Before reading the text, I thought this was the final CNP outing for the 3 photographers who were shortly wiped out by a vehicle, as they sat there oblivious to any traffic.
Wish I had still been in town to join the group.
Great images, everyone!
Holy Cow Bill! It looks like you did just fine without them. Absolutely gorgeous image!
And as for the rest of you gentlemen - very nice work as well! Although I've enjoyed (to the extent my jealousy will let me) all of the postings, I must confess that Jesse's images really juice my joints. Absolutely terrific images Jesse!
I'll try this again. I'm in NYC working and its sometimes hard to work and post at the same time.
Here is one of my shots from Saturday evening. I'm curious how it looks on other peoples displays. The laptop I'm using here seems to be losing a lot of the color from that evening. Time to buy some calibration software.
Nice shot Bill. Sorry we missed you up at Rockcut. I drove down the mountain to check out another area and ran into everyone else. They had closed the road and wouldn't let anyone back up. See you up there next time.
Jim, it was a pleasure to meet you, hope to go shooting with you some time in future. Your pic looks great, it does have some color. Great viewpoint too.
Laptops are great for being sensitive to your viewing position!

Jesse - really neat perspective in the Never Summers shot.
Jesse – that is indeed a great perspective. Nice shot! How long of a lens did you use?

Amazing how quickly the snow is melting up there!
Wish I had still been in town to join the group.
