Everyone knows that most people have website domain names that end in .com, .net and .org. We've seen attempts by the folks who govern this stuff to expand that with things like .info, .tv, etc. On Feb 12th there will be a new wave getting released that are abandoning the 2, 3 and 4 letter format and going for full words, and here are some of them:
Kind of neat, if you can now use your name with .photography, because the whole domain name is your brand without specifying .com or .net. I personally think that www.BarneyRubble.photography looks rather cool, much cleaner than www.barneyrubblephotography.com...
One of the Registrars (the companies that sell you domain names for your website(s)) that's advertising this is namecheap.com, so you can read more about it there if interested.

You're welcome Nancy. You know, as I think more on this it probably can also create confusion. Most of planet earth will want to add ".com" to whatever website you tell them to go to. We're all used to that. Also, devices like Droids and iPhones and even PC email clients won't immediately recognize JohnSmith.photography as a link, so auto-hyperlinking won't work for a while, until they update everything. I wonder how this attempt and new Top Level Domains will pan out...
