Black Bear at Shenandoah National Park
Caught this black bear last November searching for acorns shortly after dawn. Not often for me but it occasionally works out right. Perfect light, bear and stepping into the right location all at the same time. Hope you enjoy it. Andrew

Nice light! Is this the young male that was near Skyland last fall? :toast:

Just down from Big Meadows actually. Headed towards Skyland after you pass Dark Hollow Falls on the hillside on the left. I spotted several bears eating acorns there in the leaves late the afternoon before but there was a huge bear jam with no chance for photos. I returned after sunrise the following morning to capture this lone bear. It all came together as he stepped out of the trees and the early morning light hit him perfectly. It so rare that it all comes together and photographing bears in the wild is always a challenge. I am happy just to see them and if I can get a photo ot two even better.

Looks like the temperature is going to rise finally and the sun will return this week. I want to take a run up there to see if I can find any cubs.
