Planning a trip to Glacier NP in late July or early August. Looking for suggestions on places to stay or avoid. Thanks.

Jake, that should be a great trip. It's been too many years since I have been, well before one had to make reservations for campgrounds. A search of this forum for "glacier" shows several threads on Glacier NP if you have not done one yet.

Thanks, I did as you suggested and got a few places to check out.

I was in Glacier last year for 11 days, but I always camp in the back of my vehicle so I can't recommend places to stay. I also don't use organized campgrounds, private or forest service versions. The east entrance at St.Mary Lake has a number of places to stay so maybe a Google search will work for those; they are definitely closer to park highlights than anything on the west side of the park. Many Glacier also has a large hotel inside the park, which would make photographing bears in the area a lot more efficient than staying outside of the park.

thanks for the info. Bears are number one on my list, so I will check out the Many Glacier area for sure.
