Scoutng or shooting?
I'm here AZ for my annual Spring Training trip which always includes a visit with my daughter and granddaughter. I jumped in the rental car this morning for a pre-dawn scouting trip looking for sunrise or sunset locations close to the house in San Tan Valley. Actually got to photograph a pretty decent sunrise this morning. I know it's cliché and every photographer who has visited the desert has these images but what the heck...I like Saguaro silhouettes almost as much as backlit chollas. Now, if I could just find a forest of chollas near the house.....

Nice stuff, Bill! I think we crossed paths (Just got home today). I was hoping to see more wildflowers while I was down there, but think I was a week too early. I saw the sporadic cactus blossom (not the Saguaros), with most looking like they were really *this* close to blooming. Hopefully you're timing will be better than mine.
We drove home through Oak Creek Canyon and saw many fields of wildflowers that my wife thinks were wild vinca's. I stopped in one spot and shot some. When I get caught up, I'll post a few here.

Hey Bob F. Seems like we always invade the south country around the same time. As it turned out I only got out shooting the one morning. My wife and daughter flew in from Denver and we all had a great visit with my other daughter and granddaughter who live southeast of Phoenix. I didn't see any wildflowers at all except the blooming Ocotillos. Maybe next year.

Hi Bill - Looks like you had a nice trip to the desert! I really like the ocotillo photo - they look wonderful against the blue sky - and the lone saguaro in #2. You got a lot in for only being able to photograph on one morning!
