Blackcock Displaying
Hi All
I have been trying to get a series of pictures of the Blackcock recently, but due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing lately in Scotland also the early start
( 4.30am ), it’s been difficult. When it’s cloudy, I find it hard to get detail in the blacks and whites of the birds. I have also been trying action shots, but due to the unpredictable behaviour of the birds, I land off with quite a few B-L-U-R-S.
This image was taken with a Canon 1D MK11n F2.8 Lens ISO 400 1/640 sec
F8 -1.0 EV. Cropped right hand side Any comments or Tips welcome.

Hi John
I've never seen a black grouse but I can appreciate that they are difficult subjects to photograph. I love the animated pose - I suppose it would be even better if you could catch the bird higher off the ground - but that must be very tricky.

Coool, - a step-dancing Blackcock  The pose is very nice, and exposure seems good, John. I would be very happy with this photo :toast:

Hi John

I think you have done very well here. Good exposure and details in the bird and the pose is perfect, especially head on. I like the square crop too. Nice one.

cheers

Hello John
I can't see much else you could have done without trying flash. I have had to use it a bit more lately and have found that it doesn't seem to bother the subjects much.
I think this image is good.
Best wishes

Looks good to me, detail seems fine and the pose is great, good timing.
