Newegg.com has the uber popular U2412M on sale for $256 through June 3rd. It'll show for $279 but they list the promo code right on the webpage. In order to get that code to work you will have to subscribe to their eBlast email. That signup box is halfway down the page on the right. If you don't sign up the code won't work. Word of warning: the deals that come out in the daily email are so good sometimes you'll be tempted more than once to buy something (like this monitor, lol!). Once in a while they sneak out a low price on Canon gear, and they are an authorized dealer so not to worry.

ANYHOO, the monitor is a great inexpensive upgrade if you're still blowing dust off of that 17" Gateway CRT You've had since Clinton was in office. It's not top-of-line editor's dream, and not meant to be, but for the price, you'll get an IPS-panel 24" monitor that's truly 1920x1200 (16:10), which is RARE these days, most 24" monitors are 1920x1080 (16:9). It works quite well for photo editing, calibrates easily (make sure you pick "Custom Color" after you do the Factory Reset prior to calibration; it defaults at Standard which messes up cal's), and is clearly superior to a non-IPS TFT monitor. I use one at work and it's great. If you're a graphic artist and need to ensure that Pantone Blue 2736C is really that hue, then you'll want to spend a mint on a 10-bit monitor obviously, but to upgrade cheap and get something impressive, not a bad choice for $256.
