Taken today at a local project site location. This is one of the 2 young Tawny Owls that were present when I arrived to site, what a greeting this was!
This image was taken using the vehicle as a hide, this way no disturbance was caused at all, yet loads of shots were taken of the two, which I couldn't resist.
D2X - 400mm AFS (handheld with arm ache)
ISO 100, F4, 1/1500sec to counteract weight of lense & camera shake.
More of less full frame with very little done to it. What a morning!!!
Wow what a sight to behold, looks like a little old man, makes a change from the barn owl on gravestone-still reckon you have the best job

Can't help but think of Yoda when I look at this... anyway... Possibly the sharpest eyes I have ever seen on a web image! A cracking photo No nits just interested to know whether you have one with direct eye contact?
Brilliant image. Judging by my wife's response on seeing this shot it has just won the 'Cutest Wildlife Image 2006' award hands down. Great light, superb detail and what a fantastic pose on the gravestone.
This is another of your owl images that deserves to be printed big. Another best seller me thinks.
Hi Vince, having just met one of these little creatures myself, I can really appreciate how good this shot is. The setting and the eyecontact, really makes a wonderful photo. The Tawny chick I encountered wasn't very eager to open it's eyes, and it also chose a seat somewhat obscured by branches.
What a great opportunity you have had here Vincent.and you have made the most of it.
How oftens do you get birds perched on gravestones, that dont match the size of the stone.
This is just right and what a saleable image. To me Owls rank as one of the top saleable pics or at least they seem to here in Norfolk.
