Bridal Veil Falls -- Yosemite
Raymond's recent post of Yosemite Falls inspired me to share this shot of Bridal Veil Falls. This is from about two weeks ago...the falls were a sight to behold and should be in full force about now. Nikon D200, 70-200 VR Lens @ 200mm, 1/400 sec @ f/2.8. Comments and critiques appreciated.

I think it's a nice technically sound shot if a bit standard. Bridalveil is great and the image portrays falls accurately.

Richard -- Thanks for your comment. Agree the shot is a bit standard and have received adequate flak for not showing the entire falls in my other images posted to the ESS Forum. I would encourage you to examine my other images if you so desire...none of which shows the entire falls but rather are extractions of other compositions within the falls. Thanks again!

Went back and saw the others. They were posted when I was out of town for two weeks. I really like the reflection of Yosemite Falls. I do like the contrast on this one though, particularly how only a small part of the forest is lit while the rest is in silhouette. Almost like an Ansel Adams like burn and dodge.

Bishop,

This has turned out really well. I love the fact that you have managed to get excellent detail throughout the frame. The trees at the bottom provide a nice base for the composition.

I've yet to see Bridal Veil falls flowing this much in person. I think your image is quite successful in that it makes a guy like me want to get up and go to Yosemite. I do like that you can see all of the falls and the spotty lighting actually makes the scene a little more dynamic than most give it credit for. This looks like it was a great time to get various lighting situations of the same composition. Very beautiful.
