Psychedelic Fireworks
Happy 4th !

Just playing around with a technique of moving focal point while capturing fireworks. Didn't quite grasp the technique, but I was close.

That's the perfect title. Interesting technique, never seen that before.

I like the results, especially for the lower burst with the changing colors.

By "moving the focal point", I assume you mean turning the focus ring during the exposure?

Yea, Bill, that's correct. Actually, one can get some really funky images from going from close focus to infinity. Really abstract and strange. Unfortunately, I just didn't capture the bursts correctly while doing that. The image here is from infinity to close focus. Dang, I would like to experiment more with this technique, but may have to wait another year unless I attend some special fireworks display during the year.

Interesting. It makes the fireworks appear macro-ish.

Very neat, Ken! I'd say you did pretty well. Pity this is something one only gets the chance to try a couple times a year.

When I looked at this I lost my balance and knocked my lava lamp on the floor! D'oh!
