Since I posted my other image of Lamar Valley to Landscape I thought I would post this one here. Both images were taken the same night. It's been awhile since I have posted anything here. I have taken a break from my photography but hope to get back into it.
I hope you enjoy the image and thanks for any comments you may have. If you are making a trip out this way check out my eBook (click below) or if just need some info about the area let me know.
Glad to see your work again, Dean. Nice clouds and a little light on the distant land. The river bend and bright cloud being diagonal across the image keeps my eyes moving.
Yea, that meandering river really offers a nice leading line through the image. And to top it off a really nice shade of purple on the river. Great light all around. Wonderful image for sure.
It's tough to decide which I like more - I really like the subdued light and interesting cloud formations in this version. Both images are a visual treat!!
Dean- I saw that on your FB and really like it. I sent it to motivate a few friends who will be joining me at Yellowstone and the Tetons for fall colors. If you're around and itching for a shoot Sep 27-4 Oct, hit me up!

Both images are really nice with great light and comps. I prefer the one you posted in the Landscape gallery simply because it has a bit more color in the water to help compete with those great clouds.
Nice shot Dean. Good to see some stuff from you. Amy didn't send anything to me to motivate me but by coincidence I spent a couple hours this morning booking hotels and cabins for me and my daughter for our fall trip. We'll be there Labor Day week and I'm mentally prepping myself for the crowds that weekend. Tuesday through Friday it should settle down (I hope). 2 days near Gardiner for access to the Hayden and Lamar valleys. 2 days in West Yellowstone to visit the geyser basins, and 2 days in the Tetons looking for moose and bears. Still 6 weeks away but I'm getting jazzed. Maybe we'll see you on the trail sometime.
Amy I'll keep that in mind. Just the right time for fall shooting.
Sounds like a good plan Bill. September is a great time to come just stay away from July and August. I got stuck in two traffic jams on Saturday but it was worth the wait. Yellowstone is in full bloom right now and one of the best I've seen in some time. The bears have been plentiful so I'm sure you'll see a few.
