Hi! Guys,

I am planning a short trip to South Dakota during this weekend. Rough plan is to spend one and half day in Badland national park and one day in Windcave National Park, Custer State Park and etc. Following are my photo travel questions:
1.What are the must-go sunrise and sunset locations in Badland National Park?
I saw some nice sunrise pics taken at Badland NP that are claimed to be photoed at "Cedar Pass". However, I checked the park map which indicated no view point as "Cedar Pass" .Following are the links of those photos:

Could you identify what's the location of this place in the park? Thanks.

2. What are other photo travel tips for early summer trip in SD?

Thanks for your help:wavey:

Hi Li Li,

I have never been there myself but here is a link to the National Parks Service and maps that should give you the information you need. Hope this helps with your planning and good luck on your photo shoot. http://www.nps.gov/badl/pphtml/maps.html

p.s. don't forget, we'd like to see some pictures from your trip! :wavey:

Li Li - Cedar Pass is a lodge inside Badlands. There is also a campground nearby by the same name.

Hope you get some great shots and will share them when you get a chance. :wavey:

Bill,
Thanks for your reply. I knew "Cedar Pass" is the name of a lodge in the park. This is why I wonder if these photos were not taken around the lodge but somewhere else

Look up Les Voorhis at Royal Tine Images http://www.royaltineimages.com/ He is a GREAT guy and would probably be your best bet for location information. Would also be a good person to hire for a day or so.
