Murphy's First Law: What can go wrong, will go wrong.

I am sure we all can contribute addendums to Murphy's Law that relate specifically to photography.

So, lets compile a list of Murphy's Laws. I'll start...

Murphy's Law #001: The probability that a negative will land emulsion side down on a dirty floor is directly proportional to the size of the film.

Murphy's Law #002: The probability that an SD card will be full is directly proportional to the speed with which the light changes.

Here's how this thread will work:

Copy the preceding laws to your reply and then add your law(s) with the next number in the sequence.

Let's see how many we get. Have fun with this!

Murphy's Law #013: After Murphy's law #012 was just successfully applied, you will re-compose, you will refocus, you will re-everything..., just then, the wind will pick up heavily making LF photography impossible.

Murphy's Law #005: The probability That your 500 mm lens is too much lens is directly proportional to the rarity of the animal standing 10 feet in front of you, in a perfect pose.

Murphy's Law #006: The angle of tilt of the horizon in images is directly proportional to the number of beers had with lunch.

Murphy's Law #007: The probability of seeing the dark bird only against a bright sky is proportional to the rarity of the bird.

Corollary: If you have a flash and better beamer attached to your camera the probability of seeing the rare bird is zero.

Murphy's Law #008 : A once in a lifetime sunrise will have taken place the morning of the day you arrive at your photographic destination.

Murphy's Law #009 : A once in a lifetime sunset will take place the evening after you leave your photographic destination.

Murphy's Law #010: The number of consecutive cloudless days is directly proportional to the number of days you will be at your photographic destination.

Murphy's Law #011: You always find that best composition minutes before that sweet light vanishes and it is gone exactly when you finished setting up your LF camera, setting focus, exposure, etc.

Murphy's Law #012: After Murphy's law #011 became reality, fog will move in and a more dramatic scenery will unfold in front of your perfectly set-up camera, but after re-setting for longer exposure, one of the tripod legs will slip from that little unstable pebble and your camera goes south.

Murphy's Law #013: After Murphy's law #012 was just successfully applied, you will re-compose, you will refocus, you will re-everything..., just then, the wind will pick up heavily making LF photography impossible

Murphy's Law #014: Any battery that registers a full charge at home will have mysteriously died by the time you arrive at your destination. Your back-up battery will be dead too. (This actually happened to me just last week! - LOL)

Murphy's Law #015: If you believe that precariously setting up your tripod and wooden view camera on a steep and awkward slope is risky, then by law within a few minutes you will proceed to knock the tripod and camera over with your knee, shattering the camera in to pieces.

Murphy's Law #016: When you've just made a major effort to visit a new place, the weather will always have been better last week and the forecast will look great starting the day after you leave.

Murphy's Law #017: The lens you leave at home to save weight will be the one you wish you had for the scene in front of you.

Side note: (from a LF mostly former shooter) Murphy's Laws 11, 12, 13, 15 are mitigated by switching to digital mosaics.

Murphy's Law #018: The probability of your hitting the wrong key and deleting ALL your work on an image is directly proportional to the amount of time you have invested in editing said image without "saving" stages of it.

Murphy's Law #019 The act of bringing the camera up to your eye will always cause the wind to blow while shooting flowers. Lowering the camera will cause the wind to stop.

Great "Laws", all! Keep 'em coming!

Murphy's Law #20: The great light and best composition is always behind you.

Murphy's Law #21: The probability of your answer being "No" when someone asks you "Did you see the XYZ today?" is directly proportional to how badly you wanted to see it.
