Anyone have advice on a quality photo printing house in the Fort Collins area?? I have been using Sams Club, they are cheap and quick but the color calibration is proving to be a problem.

thanks

If in Fort Collins, try Fine Print Imaging. They aren't the cheapest, but they do very high quality work.

Bill,

Is there any reason you need the prints to be made in Fort Collins? ftping to Slide Printer in Denver is actually faster; they normally print & ship by the day after you place your order, they ship for free and it only takes one day to get your order by ups. Order on Monday, print by Wednesday.

Slide Printer is as good or better than Fineprint and they offer Fuji Supergloss if you're into that. I do use Fineprint for my drum scans; they give me a good deal and I prefer not to mail my slides if I don't have to.

Hey Eric,
Thanks for the pointer to Fine Print Imaging, did not realize we had such a place in the Fort. I have sent things to print to Calypso Imaging but will give these folks a try. Like local places, you can work with them to get the print the way you like it!

Fine Print has also been a good supporter of CNP over the years. They've donated gift certificates for contest prizes and sponsored a seminar. Fine people at Fine Print.

Tony, Scott, etc I did chat to Kathy at Fineprint and she was very helpful and will print a free Macbeth color chart so i can see what their calibration looks like. I'll check out Slideprinter too. Thanks a lot all.

More info - after working on this for a few days I would advise anyone who is using a minilab or print provider to make sure they get and use the correct ICC color profile for that particular printer, the results can be very good if the image file is calibrated for the printer being used. Most of the minilabs and printer companies use Noritsu or Frontier printers and Fujicolor Crystal archival paper so good results can be obtained from your local print house. Good Luck.
