Good morning everyone! I've once again done a poor job of keeping up with this forum. I find myself spending most of my time communicating with clients via FB, Twitter, G+ and even Pinterest. Ugh! I hope everyone is having a good summer and managing to get out and enjoy this wonderful weather.
Here's a shot that I took this morning at Sprague Lake. I'd love to have your comments and suggestions on it. I shot this with a new Nikon D810 that I've had for just over a day. The sharpness on this camera is simply stunning. I think I could easily print this at 72" wide and still have it look quite detailed up close. I still have a lot of other things I want to try with this camera to put it through its paces, but I'm very encouraged with what I'm seeing so far, even though I'm really not that much of a gear geek. This camera was actually a gift. I wouldn't have even considered upgrading my D800e for what seemed to be a minor upgrade.
So, I should also mention that I am now selling a D800e. If you are looking for a good deal, this one is hard to beat. Here's a link to more info: https://t.co/IxS836WyRc.

Wow, I can almost feel the stillness of the lake. Perfect comp. The new camera sounds like fun! Nice to have large format quality in an slr!

Absolutely gorgeous image Erik in every way. No nits from me...just open mouth and drool.
BTW....Every time I see Nikon come out with a new camera (especially with results like this), I keep thinking I should make the switch. I keep waiting for Canon and they seem to be doing nothing....this is very tempting, but would loos a bunch of money in glass alone.
I made the switch a couple of years ago because Canon wasn't making the move. Sure glad I did. I prefer much about Canon, but the resolution on this new camera is insane!
Joshua, until recently I've used LR for all my processing, but this past month I've been trying to teach myself blending using Sean Bagshaw's videos. This is a 2 image blend, one of the sky and one for the trees. For this I used PS.
Great shot and conditions! I understand switching to Nikon, but when you do that you should hold on to some of the better Canon glass. Over the past 30+ years of shooting, I made the switch from Nikon to Canon because of superior AF lenses at the time. Now Nikon has the upper hand, probably temporary, on resolution. What goes around comes around, it's what competition is all about. Last I read, Canon is working on a 45 or 46mp sensor! You just can't expect one company to always be ahead of the others all the time. Canon still has Nikon beat when it comes to AF, fps and resolution for sports and wildlife shooters, however just a few years ago Nikon had Canon beat on those same parameters. One can go broke trying to keep up with the improvements by switching too often! If I ever switch to another company again, it will be driven by mirrorless and weight/size issues because of the airline travel hassles.

Beautiful image Erik, really nice work on the blend. And congrats on the new camera, it sounds amazing and I'm sure you'll put it to good use.

GREAT shot! When I was last there it was about 10 degrees. I need to get back up there now that it's warmer!

I'm curious what program you used for editing, as I think Lightroom JUST updated with 810 support. Thanks
