Toroweap Snowbow
My brother and I took a trip down to Toroweap at the start of April. Driving in we had a snowstorm come through but by the time we made it to the campground the sun had came out. After setting up camp we headed to the overlook and it immediately clouded up and another storm started coming through. It seemed like the weather conditions were changing about every 15 minutes and then with about 30 minutes to go before sunset the skies turned dark and another squall came down the canyon west to east. As it passed over Toroweap the sun dipped below the clouds and we got a nice rainbow that slowly receded down the canyon with the storm. Unfortunately more clouds moved in right at sunset and we didn't get any color but the storms coming through provided some good drama and varying conditions to shoot. Click on the link below for more photos.

Any critiques would be appreciated!

Superb. Everything about this image is wonderful. I viewed the others and understand why you posted this one, but.....I really like "Toroweap Snowstorm" even as much as this one. How fortunate to be there during the storms and wonderful weather (I happen to like stormy and wet scenes; just can't seem to capture them anywhere near as well as you.)

This is a really cool image and a very unique image as well given the location. I doubt many people have gotten such a dramatic rainbow at Toroweap! Even if the weather didn't cooperate at times, this one image more than makes up for it.

Really nice, Scott! I'm jealous of the dramatic conditions you photographed! :toast:

Scott, what a great set of conditions to encounter at the big cliff. I could see reducing the brightness and increasing contrast of the sunlit walls, and a slight crop off the top. The details/brightness you brought out down along the river looks good. This makes me want to go back.
