I'm trekking up to Crested Butte with a friend in a couple of weeks and was wondering about camp sites along or around Kebler Pass. I've seen sites there in years past, but noticed that you can't reserve any.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know that area very well. Try the RMNP forum. Those folks are regulars at Kebler.

Michael,
Laurent Martres book "Photographing the Southwest Vol. 3 - Colorado and New Mexico" has about 10 pages on photographing the Crested Butte area but doesn't say much about campgrounds. It does sound like some serious hiking & 4-wheeling...look forward to seeing you photographs. Darren's suggestion sounds like a good one.

There's camping at lake Irwin or lost lake in forest service campgrounds if that's what you are looking for. I've never had a problem finding an established spot along the road if you like more primitive camping. As you may know, that area is extremely popular in fall (for good reason) and finding a spot, especially on a weekend may be a gamble. Have a great time and get some great shots.
