Canon announced the 7D Mark II recently.

Improved autofocus sounds good, and I'll be interested to see how the new sensor performs in lower light, as I am not a fan of ISOs above 400 on the 7D.

It will autofocus with f/8 lenses which offers to opportunity to attach a 2x TC to those f/4 telephotos.

Thanks for the info Brian,
Christmas is right around the corner and I have been a good boy this year.

I, too, am interested in the new Canon EOS 7D Mark II, but only if it improves on the noise performance above ISO400 of the old 7D. I have been using the old 7D for bird photography with long lenses for the past 2-3 years or since it was first released by Canon, and have found its noise performance to be poor. For photography with shorter than 200 mm lenses, I use the 5D Mark III -- a superb camera with excellent noise performance. Since the 7D Mark II was released about a week ago, I have been looking for an expert review of its performance, especially of its noise performance at high ISO, but have not yet found such a review. I'll keep looking. Ron Davis

There have been some sample images posted from hands-on testers, but I have yet to see an in depth review covering the high ISO performance. Like you, that's my biggest concern.

I agree that improved noise performance above ISO 400 would be great. However, even if there is no improvement in noise over the 7D, the 7D2 has a much improved autofocus, 10fps, and the ability to focus at F8. All very desirable for a cost bump of about $300.
