A shot of Mt R whilst hoping for northern lights last weekend
I did go this Sat night to Sunrise. Set up and shot the Milky Way over the mountain around 11PM…then stayed for the sunrise. I posted the star shot on the Landscape gallery and the sunrise shots are below.
Did anyone else get up to Sunrise…? I ask because there were close to 2 dozen photogs that night and morning.

The night pano is amazing, Ken, but I still prefer the sight of the sunrise on the mountain. What a pretty reflection into the lake.

Very nice Ken! Both are great images. Too bad the aurora was a no-show.

Great job on both photos. Isn't that a great location? I like your idea of shooting stars and sunrise at Sunrise, too. For all planning on visiting Mt. Rainier soon, keep in mind that many facilities will be closing in the next week or two, and there will be road closures not too far down the line as well. I got up to Sunrise with Steve LeP on Sat night. I posted the star shot on the Landscape Gallery. Here is a shot from sunrise later the next morning.

This was looking east…a lot of good color…which I ‘amped-up' in photoshop.

Lovely sunrise shots! Both are good comps. I like the snag on the right of the 'amped up' shot.

All nice shots Ken. Love that last one, it has a very graphic feel to it!
Nice set. I really like the night pano. What is the source of the bright light to the left of the mountain? That's the only thing that detracts for me. Love the purple and orange in the crescent moon/silhouette shot too.
