Dear friends,
I intend to buy Photomatix Pro 5 for HDR, kindly suggest whether I should buy a stand alone programme or Photoshop plug-in. Will be working mostly with photoshop.

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you!

I would definitely suggest the PS plugin route. Makes it easier to deal with the image and future layers you'll be using to fine tune the result from any HDR program.

For years I used the standalone, and just recently upgraded to 5 with the Photoshop plugin, and wondered why I didn't do that before. I agree with Keith, it's worth it.

FWIW, I ditched Photomatix when Google handed me the whole Nik collection... I started using the Nik HDR and at first it seemed good or better. But you learn that Nik's has a mind of its own sometimes which got frustrating. So when Photomatix 5 came out, I kind of hoped that they improved their algorithms in the way it processes, and I took the chance and went for it, and they have. I'm back to Photomatix and the plugin is worth it.
