Hello guys,
I'm curious to know how many of you know about birding in Brazil and have already considered coming down here for some birding tours.

If any of you could answer this, I appreciate.

And of course, if anyone needs any information, I'm glad to provide anything I can.

Thanks,
Jefferson

Jefferson -

As you've probably deduced from my recent posts, I spent two weeks in southwestern Brazil earlier this month, three-quarters of the times in the Pantanal along the Transpantaneria and one quarter in the Cerrado around Chapadas. I went with a group of buddies. Our core group has been birding together for about 10 years. We got about 300 species, more than a third of them lifers. I'm the only serious photographer among them. The trip was put together by friends of ours at an Ecuador-based tour company.

The birding was very, very good. The Transpantaneria was very, very rough. Worst gravel road I've ever been on, and I live in Alaska where bad gravel roads were invented. And the temperatures were pretty brutal. Between 10 AM and 3 PM, every bird we saw was panting. The warmest temperatures I've ever been in outside of a sauna. But I've put up with worse conditions for a lot fewer birds.

I'd give strong endorsements of Pousada Alegre and Pousada Piuval as bases. At Alegre, I laid in my hammock and took photos of Hyacinth Macaws. That's pretty impressive.

Feel free to email me if you have questions.

Hi Jim,
thanks for your reply.

My idea with the post was to verify how many people are aware of how amazing it can be some birding places in Brazil.
I think you guys know some very nice places in central america, but looks like not much in Brazil. And I believe we Brazilians have a lot to work in sharing information about what we have, in some international events like Bird Fair in England, for example.

Again, thanks for your response, and congratulates for your nice images.
